The Heat – Everywhere
There’s a lot of pressure on this movie — it’s got to pick up where Bridesmaids left off and prove that women are funny and also, that two women should be allowed to be in the same movie. It’s a female buddy cop movie and it’s the best one since, well, I guess it’s the only one. I love Bullock and McCarthy, and they both do their schticks very well and are very funny in moments, but they both deserve better. And so do we. It would be exciting if this was one of very many lady buddy cop movies, and then it could be pretty good but not great, and we could have some really fantastic ones and some shitty ones and the world would be a better place. So that’s true, and therefore please go see this many times, and maybe we can all be part of more girls, girls, girls on the big screen.
