A man was arrested today on suspicion of fatally shooting two other men in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley in July, part of a spate of gang violence that plagued the neighborhood earlier this year, police said.
Keith Wilkins, 23, was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly killing Marche Daniels, 25, and Frederick Glaspie, 27, during an altercation shortly after 1 p.m. on July 30 in the first block of Burr Avenue, police said.
Wilkins, who was already in custody for a probation violation, was arrested following an investigation that was assisted by the FBI, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, according to police.
A profile by someone with the name “Keith Wilkins” on www.eddyrock.com describes himself as a 23-year-old San Francisco native and community activist who “will sacrifice my self to see that others survive. Oh yea BURR!!!”
Eddy Rock is also the name a criminal street gang based in the Western Addition that is named in a 2007 city attorney’s document in support of a requested gang injunction.
The killings of Daniels and Glaspie were part of a spate of violence that saw multiple shooting deaths in Visitacion Valley within a week.
One of those victims, killed a day earlier in the city’s Diamond Heights neighborhood, was 18-year-old Elijah Hopkins.
Several posts on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter connected Hopkins to the Burr Avenue area, with many telling him to “Burr in peace.”
The deaths of Daniels and Glaspie remain under investigation.
