Possible Hazmat Situation Prompts Presidio Archaeology Lab Evacuation

2:32 PM: Ethanol odor caused the evacuation of the Presidio Archaeology Lab in San Francisco this morning, fire officials said.

Fire crews were dispatched to the lab at 49 Moraga Ave. at 10:35 a.m. after receiving reports of an odor in the building and people inside not feeling well, according to the fire department.

The building was evacuated and investigators concluded that the smell was coming from ethanol that had spilled in the building, according to the fire department.

Five people reported smelling the ethanol but they did not require medical treatment. Fire crews left the area at about 12:20 p.m., fire officials said.

12:14 PM: A possible hazardous materials situation prompted the evacuation of the Presidio Archaeology Lab in San Francisco this morning, fire officials said.

Hazmat Issues Prompt Evacuation Of Fisherman’s Wharf Hotel

6:43 PM: An evacuation of a Fisherman’s Wharf hotel has been lifted after a hazmat situation sickened 15 people there, a San Francisco Fire Department dispatcher said.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. an exposure to an unknown substance was reported at 250 Beach St., the dispatcher said. The Raddison Hotel is listed at that address.

Fifteen patients were treated for exposure to the substance and the building was evacuated, fire officials said.

The evacuation was lifted within about an hour.

6:06 PM: A hazmat situation has forced the evacuation of a Fisherman’s Wharf hotel this evening, a San Francisco Fire Department dispatcher said.
