2:32 PM: Ethanol odor caused the evacuation of the Presidio Archaeology Lab in San Francisco this morning, fire officials said.
Fire crews were dispatched to the lab at 49 Moraga Ave. at 10:35 a.m. after receiving reports of an odor in the building and people inside not feeling well, according to the fire department.
The building was evacuated and investigators concluded that the smell was coming from ethanol that had spilled in the building, according to the fire department.
Five people reported smelling the ethanol but they did not require medical treatment. Fire crews left the area at about 12:20 p.m., fire officials said.
