Service Ambassador 1, 12-5-09.jpg

According to a press release sent by MTA spokesperson Judson True moments ago, “as of 7:00 a.m., Muni service is going smoothly on the first weekday of the implementation of the most extensive Muni service changes in a generation. No significant delays have been reported.”

On Saturday, True reported that “some NextMuni predictions are inaccurate, and the SFMTA is working with the contractor to fix them.” He also said that as of noon, 311 reported a 27% increase in calls compared to a recent Saturday, presumably due to calls by people wondering where the hell their bus is. On Sunday, he reiterated that “the implementation of the service changes continued to proceed smoothly.”

According to True, about 100 Muni Ambassadors are still on the streets assisting riders. We asked True if those pesky NextMuni issues have been resolved, and he told us “There are still some spot issues being resolved but there are no general problems. That said, NextMuni predictions are based on learned experience so they will improve over time.” So you have been warned.

How about you, have you had to seek 311 or Ambassador help? How was your commute this morning? And do you believe this is just the first slash in what will be a series of cuts?
