We asked, and you answered: some folks have seen cops on Muni, others never have. Burrito Justice pointed us towards what EveryBlock refers to as the Muni Inspection Program overview (that’s what we get for searching for BIP. What acronym do you prefer, BIP or MIP?). and, hey, it looks like SFPD made 580 Muni visits on March 18 alone.
So, the next thing to do is to see what the numbers were like on a comparable day previous to Dufty’s stink-raising. Monday, March 16 gives us 388 inspections on EveryBlock, and the previous Friday, the 13th, had 588 reported BIP, uh, Is.
While we’ll agree that those are far from consistent numbers, if accurate, they do have a certain substance. And, clicking on the individual entries, the inspections do seem to be spread over the entire day. So, the question we’re trying to figure out is what the difference is between the number of B/MIPs on any given day, and the number of cops on duty.
We’re working on that question now, but right now we’ll leave you with this note from Steve Rhodes from moments ago:
I’m waiting for Muni at Van Ness Station.
There just was an announcement over the loud speaker system (very poor
sound quality) “SFPD to Montgomery Station” repeated several times.
You’d think they would have a direct line rather than using a system wide loudspeaker.
But in theory the SFPD are at Montgomery station
