BARTlogo.pngSure, a BART employee strike looms (just not this week) if an agreement can’t be reached by midnight tonight, SFO employees are pissed at how much more it’ll cost them to take BART to work, and don’t even get us started on TransLink (OK, do).

Bu BART still has big plans! Lots to do!

Like extending BART to San Jose. The CTC is voting today on whether to make a $40 M allocation to pay the first installment of the $240 M the commission is expecting to spend on the project. According to the SF Business Times, this is in addition to $400 million commission members previously allocated for the project, with federal funds will also going towards the total cost of $6.1 billion.

And, in a move Trigger the BART stopping dog might applaud, former state Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata Oakland Mayoral candidate) joined transit advocates Wednesday in demanding the MTC to deny funding for a tram extension to the Oakland Airport.

The extension which would cost $522 million, is expected to cost riders an extra $6 for a one way ride, a surcharge that even BART board president Thomas Blalock admits minutes “would discourage some people from using the system.”

The project is scheduled to go to the full MTC board on July 22 for its final vote.
