A man who was already in jail for unrelated crimes has been charged with the murder of a man in San Francisco’s Tenderloin last month, according to police and district attorney’s office officials.
Joseph Barlow, 35, was charged today with murder and assault with a firearm in connection with the June 10 death of Coquiese Walker, 40, of San Francisco, according to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
Walker was fatally shot in the 300 block of Turk Street just before midnight, according to police.
According to Walker’s Facebook page, he graduated from San Francisco’s former McAteer High School in 1991.
Before his arrest on suspicion of murder, Barlow was arrested on June 25 on separate warrants for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, according to San Francisco Chief Deputy Kathy Gorwood.
He is being held on $5 million bail for the murder charge that was filed today and an additional $160,000 for the other charges, she said.
According to the district attorney’s office, Barlow will be arraigned on the murder charge Friday.
