Holiday Muni Schedule and Parking Enforcement
On the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday, Muni will operate on a Saturday schedule.
Parking meters and seven day street sweeping will be enforced citywide on the holiday. Commuter tow away, residential parking permits and Monday-Friday daytime street sweeping will not be enforced.
In 2012 meters on Port of San Francisco property, including The Embarcadero and Fisherman’s Wharf, will be enforced seven days per week throughout the year, except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Hazards are always subject to ticketing and towing.
L Taraval Track Switch Replacement Project
From 4:30 a.m., Sunday, to 4:30 a.m., Monday, the SFMTA will install a new track switch on the L Taraval Line between 35th and 36th avenues. Some parking restrictions will begin at 7 a.m., Friday.
Chinese New Year Flower Fair
On Saturday and Sunday the Chinese New Year Flower Fair will be held in Chinatown from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday.
The following street closures will be required from 11 p.m., Friday to 11 p.m., Sunday:
· Grant Avenue from Clay Street to Broadway
· Pacific Avenue from Columbus Avenue to Stockton Street
· Jackson Street from Stockton Street to Kearny Street
· Washington Street from Stockton Street to Kearny Street
· Intersections: Jackson Street at Grant Avenue, Washington Street at Grant Avenue and Pacific Avenue at Grant Avenue
· All alleys within the boundaries of the larger closure will also be closed
The following Muni routes will be affected:
· 10 Townsend
· 12 Folsom-Pacific
Chinatown Parking Lane Closure
Beginning Saturday through next Sunday, January 22, the parking lanes on both sides of Stockton Street between Broadway and Sacramento Street will be closed between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day.
There will be strict enforcement of double parking violations during this time.
49ers Football Playoff Game
On Saturday the playoff game between the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Candlestick Park.
Motorists should expect very heavy traffic and delays on the westbound Bay Bridge and in both directions of U.S. 101 leading to Candlestick Park for at least three hours before the start of the game. Traffic will also be congested on the eastbound Bay Bridge and in both directions of US 101 for at least three hours after the end of the game. I-280 through Daly City is a good alternate route for Peninsula drivers not attending the game. BART is the best alternative to Bay Bridge congestion. Fans attending the games are encouraged to take public transportation. For more information, go to sfmta.com/football or use the 49ers regional transit map. The 49ers and the SFMTA encourage fans to arrive early in order to avoid pre-game congestion. The main parking lot will open at 8:30 a.m. To encourage fans to arrive early, the 49ers will reduce prices at some concession stands and give away prizes. Muni offers several ways to get to Candlestick Park from locations throughout San Francisco. There are four Muni Express routes and two Shuttles.
The Muni Express route is Special Event Fare Service
Adult fare: $12 roundtrip
Youth/Senior/Disabled fare: $10 roundtrip
Muni monthly pass, Passport or CityPass Special Event Add-on fare: $8 roundtrip (adult and discount pass holders)
The Candlestick Shuttles are regular fare service, $2 adult per trip and $.75 for youth/senior/disabled per trip.
In order for Clipper customers with a monthly pass to obtain the add-on fare discount, at least $8 in cash value must be loaded to their Clipper cards prior to boarding the special event Muni service.
Customers can load their cards online at clippercard.com (please allow at least five days for processing), or at one of the participating Clipper vendors or ticket vending machines in a Muni Metro station. Please go to sfmta.com for fare details.
For service to and from the game, T Third customers should transfer at the Gilman/Paul station to the 87 Candlestick Shuttle, which operates directly between the station and Candlestick Park.
On Saturday Muni customers may purchase their fare in advance. SFMTA staff will sell Muni fares from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations:

Tet Festival
On Sunday the 16th annual San Francisco Tet Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday on Larkin Street. The following street closures will be required from 1 a.m. to midnight.
¬∑ Larkin Street from Eddy Street to O’Farrell Street
· Ellis Street from Hyde Street to Polk Street
· Willow Street from Polk Street to Larkin Street
· Olive Street from Polk Street to Larkin Street
· Intersections: Larkin and Ellis streets, Olive and Larkin streets and Willow and Larkin streets
The 19 Polk Muni route will be affected.
MLK March and Celebration
On Monday at 11 a.m., the MLK March will start at 4th and King streets and proceed east on Channel Street, north on 3rd Street and west on Howard Street to Yerba Buena Gardens. The march is expected to conclude at approximately noon.
The MLK Celebration will be held at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Caltrain Freedom Train: The Caltrain Freedom Train will arrive at the 4th Street and King Street Station at 10:55 a.m.
Muni bus shuttles will be standing by to transport those Caltrain “Freedom Train” riders unable to participate in the MLK March. Participants may take the 30 Stockton or 45 Union-Stockton bus routes south on 4th Street for post-event service back to Caltrain.
Traffic and Transit Impacts
Street closures will be required beginning at 9:30 a.m. along the MLK March route. Cross traffic will be allowed through except when the march is passing. The SFPD will allow two lanes of traffic along the east side of 3rd Street.
