Previously: Rollover Crash On 101 Might Be Alcohol Related
An early morning rollover crash on southbound U.S. Highway 101 near Octavia Boulevard in San Francisco resulted in one arrest but no major injuries, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
Officers responded to the crash on Friday at 2:27 a.m. on the southbound curve just before the last stretch of the highway before it hits San Francisco streets, Officer Herman Quon said.
Responding officers found a white 1995 Mitsubishi sport utility vehicle on its side, where it had come to rest after apparently rolling over, Quon said.
Inside the car were a 21-year-old male driver from Richmond and four male passengers, all between 20 and 21 years old. They passengers were from Richmond, San Pablo and Ben Lomond, a municipality in Santa Cruz County, Quon said.
It appears the Mitsubishi was the only car involved in the incident, but a second vehicle might have also been connected to the crash, Quon said.
The CHP investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The four passengers all suffered minor to moderate injuries, Quon said. Some might have been transported to San Francisco General Hospital, he said, but they have likely been released since none of the injuries were reported to be severe.
The driver was not injured in the crash, Quon said. He was arrested by CHP officers at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and with a suspended license, he said.
No roads were closed during the response to the crash, Quon said.
“At 2 a.m., the traffic is light,” he said.
