Free Outdoor Screening Event Hosted by ITVS in Conjunction with PARK(ing) Day
Join ITVS as the Good Hotel’s parking lot (7th St @ Minna St) is transformed for one night only into an outdoor movie theater with food trucks, music, give-aways, and more. Appropriately, the independent media org will be showing The Parking Lot Movie, in conjunction with PARK(ing) Day. Free, but bring blankets, beach chairs, and friends. It all starts at 7pm.
Off The Grid
Hungry for a korean taco, gypsy jazz, and creme bruelee? You can fill all those needs before hitting the bars at Ft. Mason from 5:00 pm-9:00pm. This week, Off the Grid is starring more then 25 deliciously unique food carts, plus drinks, and live music. Did we mention Kara’s Cupcakes, Chairman Bao, and Hapa Ramen will be there too? J-Pop Summit Festival
New People is hosting a HUGE pop culture festival this weekend in Japantown. Get your anime fix, as well as checking out modern Japanese fashion, art, live music, cinema, celebrities, and design. The J-Pop festival is free and kicks off at 11:00 am until 6:00 pm, at the Japantown Peace Plaza (Post Street between Sutter and Laguna Streets, San Francisco, CA).
Fringe Festival Closing Weekend
SF’s 19th annual Fringe Festival is closing this weekend, so take full advantage of all the choices for new theatre taking place on Saturday! There’s a ton of options to choose from, including a theatre troupe from the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius with a show about forced migration. Or a sexologist offering an evening of onstage phone sex. Check. Walt Whitman’s erotic writings at the F-Market Muni Turnaround. You betcha. Roadworks Street Fair
Steamrollers are artists too, you know. Check out the San Francisco Center for the Book as they present their 7th Annual “Roadworks” Street Fair. They’ll be using an industrial steamroller to make huge linoleum prints, then visit the surrounding +80 street vendors and artist booths. Free, from 12-5pm on Rhode Island St., between 16th and 17th Streets. Visit their site for more info.
Indie Street Fair
And since you’ll be in the area, swing by the Indie Mart Street Fair at Thee Parkside in Potrero Hill. There will be over 85 vendors, 7 bands, a photo booth, and plenty of locally made items to covet. From 12-6 pm, only $3, at 17th Street and Wisconsin Streets. For more info visit: Indie Mart’s site.
