True story: When I got married my brother-in-law gave us tickets to the movie theater at Northgate Mall. Two days after the ceremony we took the trip to Marin to cash them in with a matinee showing of Crank. We were walking around the mall when Phil Bronstein called my cell to offer me a job at the Chronicle. “I’m on my honeymoon” I babbled “at the dirt mall. We’re just killing time waiting for Crank.” Though my Chronicle time was brutal and brief, I still think about that moment, the phone call that completely changed the course of my life. That day, I was so excited I could barely pay attention to the movie. I won’t make the same mistake with Crank 2 which is so rad it did not even screen for critics. Opens Friday.Info — Eve
