A man shot and killed Sunday night in San Francisco’s Bayview District was identified by the medical examiner’s office today as 33-year-old Shanta Sparks, a city resident.
Sparks was shot just after 11:30 p.m., while sitting with a woman in a parked car at the intersection of Third Street and Innes Avenue, according to police.
A suspect walked up and fired into the car, hitting Sparks, police said.
Sparks died at San Francisco General Hospital.
No arrests have been made, and a possible motive for the killing hasn’t been released.
The Police Department’s gang task force is assisting the homicide unit in the investigation, police said.
The shooting is the 19th homicide this year in San Francisco.
On Friday night, 18-year-old Ilya Yurchenkov, of San Francisco, was fatally shot in the 2400 block of Geary Boulevard near Lyon Street at about 11:30 p.m.
A male suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody in connection with Yurchenkov’s killing, police said.
BART police are investigating the suspicious death last Wednesday of a 22-year-old man found injured at the Civic Center station early that morning.
Konstantin Tomashevsky, of Berkeley, was found unconscious and had suffered traumatic injuries, a BART spokesman said. He died at San Francisco General Hospital.
The medical examiner’s office has conducted an autopsy but has not determined the cause of Tomashevsky’s death.
