Man Seriously Injured in Richmond District Crash

A man was seriously injured Monday afternoon when his car went down a steep embankment at Sutro Heights Park in San Francisco’s Richmond District, police said.

The crash was reported at 3:23 p.m. in the 600 block of 48th Avenue near Anza Street, according to police.

An 84-year-old man was driving a white Toyota Camry sedan south on 48th Avenue at a high speed when he went over an embankment and down a cliff, landing in some trees, police said.

Firefighters extricated the driver, who was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, including neck and back trauma, according to police.
