Man Shot, Killed in Duboce Triangle Robbery Identified

A man shot and killed in a robbery in San Francisco’s Duboce Triangle neighborhood early Monday morning has been identified as 22-year-old Michael Marquez of San Francisco, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Marquez was shot and killed when he was robbed while walking with two other men in their early 20s near the intersection of Henry and Noe streets, just south of Duboce Park, around 12:30 a.m., according to police.

They were approached by five male suspects, one of who pointed a handgun at them. The suspects stole a smartphone, a wallet and a backpack and then shot Marquez in the torso, police said.

The five suspects fled in a dark sedan before police arrived. Marquez was loaded into an ambulance but died on his way to San Francisco General Hospital.

Anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to contact the San Francisco police anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
