Suspicious powder reported near the Transbay Temporary Terminal in San Francisco this morning has been determined to be harmless cooking starch, a fire spokeswoman said.

The powder was reported at 8:21 a.m. as a possibly suspicious substance under an awning on Folsom Street near the terminal, San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

Police and firefighters set up barricades to keep foot traffic away from the scene until it was determined at 9:06 a.m. that the powder was harmless, Talmadge said.
