11 PM: All eastbound lanes have reopened on the Bay Bridge but the westbound Treasure Island offramp remains closed following a vegetation fire on Yerba Buena Island, according to the Calfornia Highway Patrol.

Lanes were closed to allow firefighters access to the fire, which was reported just south of the bridge on the western side of the island at 7:47 p.m., according to the CHP.

The fire, which is now contained, sent up a large plume of smoke and visible flames, and caused a severe traffic backup on the approach to the Bay Bridge through San Francisco.

San Francisco fire officials have not responded to calls seeking information.

9:12 PM: One lane on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge has reopened but another remains closed as firefighters struggle to control a fire on Yerba Buena Island just south of the bridge, according to the CHP.

The westbound Treasure Island offramp is also closed due to the fire, which was reported to the CHP at 7:47 p.m.

The fire is sending up a large plume of smoke and visible flames, and has caused a traffic backup that extends through San Francisco.

San Francisco 49ers fans attempting to return to the East Bay after tonight’s game are being advised to use other bridges.
