Most of us agree that it’s important to support local businesses — and last week, I found a label that makes such beautiful clothing that they make it not just easy to shop local, but a true pleasure.

Mansoor Scott was founded by in 2011 by designers Sabah Mansoor Husain and Bethany Meuleners, who met at the Academy of Art School of Fashion MFA program. The label is based in San Francisco and is produced in California.

At their trunk show last week, I found beautiful, wearable, reasonably priced clothing. For example, look at the quality of materials used on this dress.

I couldn’t believe it when they told me it sells for less than $300.

Sabah said that the materials they use are sourced out of Europe. Here’s a close up of the sparkly Italian buttons used on the dress.

The pieces I saw were classic with a nice helping of lux, like this rubberized lace and leather bomber jacket that she’s holding. It retails for less than $500.

I thought that this coat stole the show. It’s made of felted lace over wool with leather sleeves.

Although this coat is one of the more expensive pieces (just under $1000), I challenge you to find anything of this quality, made in California, at a department store in San Francisco for as reasonable a price.

You can purchase Mansoor Scott by contacting the company through their website or at one of their trunk shows. It is not currently available in stores.
