An 18-year-old man was fatally shot in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood on Thursday afternoon, police said today.
Police were told that a gunshot victim came into San Francisco General Hospital around 3 p.m. and officers then found evidence of a shooting at Girard Street and Wilde Avenue.

The victim later died at the hospital, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
He has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as Karl Mitchell, a Pittsburg resident.
No arrests had been made in connection with the shooting and no suspect information was immediately available this morning, Esparza said.
