BART riders were cleared from a downtown San Francisco station this afternoon after smoke was reported there, a BART employee said.

Around 2:45 p.m., customers on the platform at the Embarcadero station were asked to exit the station, a BART employee said.

BART investigated and determined by 3 p.m. that nothing was burning or otherwise amiss.

However, the incident caused 10-minute delays to trains passing through the station in both directions.
