A man was hit with a baseball bat and had his jacket stolen in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood early this morning, police said.

The robbery was reported at 2:08 a.m. in the 1500 block of Vermont Street.

The 34-year-old victim was approached from behind by two men, one of whom struck him in the back with the bat, according to police.

The suspects then grabbed the man’s jacket from him and fled. They are described as in their late teens or early 20s, and they had not been found as of this morning, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
