I love the look of heels. My legs are short and curvy so heels lengthen the look of them quite a bit, but that’s not the only reason I wear heels. I also wear them because of the pain.

High heels hurt, don’t let anyone lie to you. People who say they don’t hurt either have very beneficial nerve damage or are just good at dealing with the pain. I’m good at dealing with the pain because it makes me feel extra enabled.

It’s like they say about Ginger Rogers, not only did she do every thing Fred Astaire did, she did it backwards and in heels.

To me walking around in heels is like doing a one handed push up. It say’s “I got this, I’ve got it so much that I can do it with one, figurative, hand tied behind my back.”

This self hurting behavior of mine is probably indicative of some sort of mental problem, or a ginormous chip on my shoulder, but I can’t carry a mental health professional with me into every situation so instead I just notice the pain my high heels are causing me and let it make me feel strong.

These killers should require a medical release at the point of purchase. What they do to feet is torture and disfigurement and I speak from experience. Why do old ladies end up wearing police shoes, open toed rubber and velco strapped flat sandals,Crocs in Miami Beach colors and other decidedly really really ugly and inappropriate footwear???? 3 guesses. However if you are into $50,000 plus surgeries, long term foot, back, and leg problems go for the vanity!!!!

Where to begin? I love high heels. I wear them all of the time – nothing else. But, let me be honest. My big toenails are so badly ingrown that I cannot wear as many styles as I would like. My right knee hurts from my constant heel wearing habits. My back aches. My Achilles tendons are short, making it essentially impossible to wear a flat shoe. But, the arches of my feet are gracefully arched. While my calf muscles are shortened, many who see them compliment me on the loveliness of my legs. I owe it all to my heels.

I hear you miss Pamela. It took my mother 2 years before her achilles were relengthened enough (after 30 years on heels) to wear flat sneakers but she’s proof it can be done. I also know an amazing Physical Therapist who might be able to show you how, his name is Mel Young and he’s helped me overcome many of my injuries from training to dance ballet since I was 5 years old.

    xx!

I love high heels, but don’t wear them much since we moved to a place up a hill. Walking uphill is tricky in heels, but walking downhill is ridiculous. When I really want to wear heels to an event now, I pack them in a bag and wear flats down to catch a cab or a bus. More often, however, I just wear some cute flats so I don’t have to pack two pairs of shoes everywhere I go.
