The San Francisco Police Department’s Violence Reduction Team and Tactical Unit arrested five people in possession of loaded firearms Halloween night, according to police.

The first incident, in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, police witnessed a man running south on Sixth Street away from Market Street clutching an object at his waist. Officers caught up with the suspect at Sixth and Jessie streets and discovered he had a loaded .45 semi-automatic firearm in his waistband and arrested him.

Police arrested 21-year-old DeMauriae Jacques Epps for unlawfully possessing a firearm and resisting arrest.

The next incident, about one block away at the intersection of Jones and Market streets, a suspicious man was detained and searched for weapons. A loaded firearm was located in his waistband. The man attempted to break away from police officers, but was quickly apprehended, according to police.

San Francisco police arrested 21-year-old Bobby Jones for unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.

Police in San Francisco’s Mission District noticed a suspicious individual at the Valencia Gardens Development located on Valencia Street between 14th and 15th streets. The individual was detained and arrested with a gun in his possession, police said.

Police arrested 21-year-old Antonio Henry for possession and concealment of a firearm.
In the Tenderloin district, police noticed two men near Hyde and Golden Gate streets, who were known from prior police contacts for carrying weapons. Police waited for backup officers and then approached the suspects. The suspects fled on foot and were pursued by police.

One suspect dropped a gun near 101 Hyde St. and continued running.

Officers recovered his weapon, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The second suspect, engaged in a foot pursuit with officers, turned onto Larkin Street.

Removing a gun from his waistband, the suspect discharged a round. The suspect dropped the gun and was taken into custody on Fulton Street. Police seized both guns in the incident and did not fire their weapons.

Police arrested 20-year-old Devonte Wilson for unlawfully possessing a concealed firearm, resisting arrest and discharging a firearm into an inhabited building or vehicle.

In the final incident, police patrolling in San Francisco’s Western Addition neighborhood were notified of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on Eddy Street between Divisadero and Scott streets.

Police said four male subjects were visible inside the vehicle. The front seat passenger had an open bottle of alcohol. Police detained the subjects and discovered a loaded handgun visible beneath the driver’s seat.

Police arrested the driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Davonta Darius Gaines and released the passengers without incident.

Police arrested Gaines for unlawful possession of a concealed firearm inside a vehicle and for possession of alcohol by persons under 21 year of age inside a vehicle.
