Note: According to a call from SFPD officer Albie Esparza, the below story is incorrect, as the victim was not riding Muni when he was attacked. Instead, says Esparza, the victim had been riding Muni, was lost and got off on a street between Glen Park and Balboa Park and was attacked on the street.

“Nothing to do with the Muni other than that the victim was on it and he got off, lost” said Esparza.

An 18-year-old riding on a San Francisco Municipal Railway light-rail line near the Glen Park neighborhood was held up with a knife Wednesday afternoon, police said.

While on the outbound J-Church line around 2:45 p.m. somewhere between the Glen Park and Balboa Park stops the teen was knocked unconscious by a man with a knife, police said.

The suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed his backpack and then punched the victim. The suspect then brandished a knife and elbowed the victim before running away, police said.

The robber got away with the victim’s backpack, laptop and portable game system, police said.

The victim refused medical attention.

The suspect was only described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 25 years old, according to police.
