shooting_nighttime.jpgA man was shot during a robbery in San Francisco’s Japantown neighborhood early Tuesday morning, police said today.

The shooting was reported around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Geary Boulevard and Laguna Street.

The 31-year-old victim was approached by a suspect who pulled out a gun and demanded money, according to police.

The victim complied and handed him some cash, but then pushed the gun aside, prompting the suspect to shoot him in the hip and calf, police said.

The victim was treated at San Francisco General Hospital for his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The suspect, a man believed to be in his 20s, fled and had not been found as of this morning, according to police.
