San Francisco police have released a photo of the victim in a fatal shooting in the city’s Mission District on Friday in the hope that someone may come forward with information to help solve the case.

As previously reported, 24-year-old Lorenzo Jimenez of Sacramento was found lying on 16th Street between Valencia and Guerrero Streets suffering from a gunshot wound to the head at about 11:30 PM Friday.

Just before the shooting, Jimenez and several friends were at the Double Dutch Bar. According to the Ex, Jimenez had been working in San Francisco and was invited to the bar by a friend.

While at the bar, he was confronted by 5-10 Hispanic men who attacked him after he left, police say. Eventually, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Jimenez. He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where he died on Saturday.

SFPD are hopeful that, since the crime took place in a vibrant neighborhood on a Friday night, there are many witnesses that may have seen the incident or the suspects.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact SFPD Homicid Detail at (415) 553-1145. You can also call the Anonymous Tip Line at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 with SFPD as the subject.
