sffd_firefighters.jpgA one-alarm fire that broke out in San Francisco’s Inner Richmond neighborhood this morning was controlled quickly, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 11:37 a.m. in the 500 block of Cabrillo Street, which is near 6th Avenue. The blaze was brought under control in less than 20 minutes, a fire official said.

A secretary at the nearby Frank McCoppin Elementary School, located at 651 Sixth Ave., said she could smell smoke.

She said students are on a field trip to Golden Gate Park today, and would walk back to school this afternoon along Seventh Avenue instead of Sixth Avenue to avoid the fire area.
