Entrance stone to National Aids Grove in Golden Gate Park

It is spring at the National AIDS Memorial Grove in Golden Gate Park. A place of healing and renewal year round, the AIDS Grove in spring is especially wonderful as nature puts on her dazzling annual show of blooms and re-awakening.

In the words of lyricist Herb Newman,

“Let me tell you ’bout the birds…

“…and the bees…”

“…and a thing called love.”

Another harbinger of spring is the start of monthly volunteer workdays in the Grove. The third Saturday of each month from April to October volunteers gather from 9 AM to noon to do whatever tasks are needed for maintaining the grove.

This year Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will be joining the volunteers on Saturday, April 21 to mark the 25th anniversary of her election to Congress.
