walk.jpgDid you know that the first Friday in April is Walk to Work Day? Even better, Walk SF is offering prizes when you get your walk on and tweet about it. Law firm GJEL will also donate $25 to Walk SF for each post.

Says Elizabeth Stampe, executive director of Walk SF, “We’re looking forward to hearing what people notice when they walk. What are the best parts of your walk? What feels unsafe? What would encourage you to walk more?”

To participate and voice your thoughts, first follow Walk SF on twitter (@walksf) so they can direct message you if you win. Then use the hashtag #walk2workSF as you tweet.

Not on twitter? Like their facebook page and share their “I walked to work today” image.

Prizes include gifts from local merchants like Sports Basement and SF Acupuncture Group. Even if you’ve got a lengthy commute, Walk SF only requires a 15 minute walk to be eligible to win.

Says Stampe, “Every commute includes walking, so really, you walk to work every day, but Walk to Work Day offers the opportunity to take the time to look around and really enjoy it. San Francisco is one of the best cities in the country for commuting on foot. Plus, it’s a good time to see how the City could improve conditions to make your walk even better.”

What: Walk to Work Day
When: Friday, April 6th
Where: Wherever your commute takes you.
Cost: fantastically free.
