wave.jpgA water main break on 26th Street in San Francisco may have flooded a few homes and affected water pressure in the surrounding area this evening.

The break on 26th Street between Hampshire and York streets occurred around 5 p.m. on a 16-inch water main, said San Francisco Public Utilities Commission spokesman Charles Sheehan.

The break has reduced water pressure in the surrounding areas but does not appear to have cut off water service to any homes, Sheehan said. Some homes in the immediate area may have seen some flooding when the break occurred.

Repair crews are on the scene and the water flow from the break has slowed significantly. Sheehan said crews hope to stop the water flow completely “within the next hour or so.”
