A BART train was stopped at the 16th Street/Mission station in San Francisco for nearly 15 minutes this morning as police investigated a report of a man with a gun, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.

The report came in at about 10:40 a.m., prompting BART police to hold the train and search it, Allison said. San Francisco police assisted.

No gunman was found, and the train was released at 10:53 a.m.

Allison said East Bay-bound trains were able to pass through the station during the search but that the incident caused some delays.
