sfpd_squad.jpgSuspects in a robbery and attempted kidnapping fled from San Francisco police in a high-speed chase Saturday afternoon, striking a pedestrian and causing an injury accident before they were captured.

The chase began after police received a report of a robbery and attempted kidnapping at Eighth and Minna streets around 2:20 p.m., said Sgt. Daryl Fong.

Officers conducting a search of the area spotted the suspect vehicle and initiated a vehicle pursuit. The suspects struck one pedestrian, causing minor injuries, on Seventh Street as they sped away, and came close to hitting a police officer, Fong said.

The chase moved through several districts in the city, and the suspect vehicle was involved in another minor injury accident in the Bayview District. Fong did not have details on that incident.

The chase ended at Naples Street and Peru Avenue in the Excelsior District when the suspect vehicle struck a parked car. Two people were taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of robbery, attempted kidnapping and assault on a police officer, Fong said.
