wave.jpgA small fuel spill near San Francisco’s Pier 45 Wednesday did not come from a crabbing boat, as was previously reported, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The two-gallon diesel fuel spill was reported just after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Coast Guard officials at the time said it originated with a crabbing boat named the “King Crab,” but are now saying the boat was not the source.

The source of the spill has not been identified, said Petty Officer Mike Lutz.

Some absorbent pads were placed in the water at the time of the spill to soak up the fuel.
