taxi.jpgA man was struck by a taxicab after he apparently walked in front of traffic on Market Street in downtown San Francisco this afternoon, a police spokesman said.

The accident was reported at 1:41 p.m. at the intersection of Market and Stockton streets.
The pedestrian, a 29-year-old man, was walking west alongside traffic on the street when a witness said he apparently turned and walked into a lane of traffic, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Andraychak said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Andraychak said.

The taxi driver, a 39-year-old man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. He was not injured, nor was a passenger in the cab.

The crash remains under investigation, Andraychak said.
