Hundreds of protesters have gathered in front of the State Building in San Francisco this afternoon.
Golden Gate Avenue is closed between Polk and Larkin streets for the “People’s Assembly for Public Education” demonstration, which is part of the “ReFund Public Education March” that kicked off at Justin Herman Plaza earlier this afternoon.
The protest was organized in response to tuition hikes and the cancellation of the UC Board of Regents meeting in San Francisco this week.
The meeting was canceled because of fears that violent protests would occur, according to the regents.
