pg&e_meter.jpgPG&E crews have capped a gas leak in San Francisco tonight and are working to fix the damaged distribution line, a utility spokeswoman said.

PG&E crews ruptured the 16-inch steel distribution line while excavating a hole in the South of Market neighborhood at around 7:15 p.m., spokeswoman Jana Morris.

Four customers were impacted by the leak and traffic was closed on Beale Street between Market and Howard streets and crews worked to cap the leak.

The leak was capped at around 8:40 p.m. and PG&E officials expect repairs to be completed by 10 p.m.
