Wayne McGregor travels all the way from England with his dance company, Random Dance, and what do we greet him with? Blisteringly wet, chilly weather. If you happen to meet him, give him a warm bear hug. Or a firm handshake. Or perhaps just wave and say, “‘Allo.”

Harry Potter reminded adults that books ARE cool, and McGregor’s unique sixth sense of dancemaking is infusing similar excitement into the danceworld. And fun fact: McGregor served as movement director for “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

As you watch his company onstage in “Entity,” be prepared for fascinating imagery that pops out of unconventional and intelligent design. The music is by Coldplay and Massive Attack collaborator Jon Hopkins.

What: Wayne McGregor/Random Dance’s “Entity”
When: Fri-Sat, Nov 11-12, 8PM
Where:YBCA Novellus Theater, 700 Howard Street @ 3rd Street
Tickets: $35-50; online or at the door (pending availability)

Becca Klarin writes about dance. Her first stage role was at the age of four, where she dressed in a brightly colored bumble bee tutu and black patent leather taps shoes. She remembers bright lights and spinning in circles with her eleven other bees, but nothing more. Becca also has an affinity for things beginning with the letter "P", including Pizzetta 211, Fort Point, pilates, parsvakonasana, and plies.
