police-light-bar1.jpgA Mill Valley woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after striking and critically injuring a pedestrian in San Francisco’s Richmond District on Saturday night, a police spokesman said.

The accident was reported at Fulton Street and 20th Avenue at 10:01 p.m. Saturday.

A 40-year-old woman was crossing Fulton Street in a crosswalk when she was hit by a silver Volkswagen Passat traveling east, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with a life-threatening skull fracture, according to police.

The driver of the Passat, a 36-year-old woman, stopped at the scene but was arrested a short time later on suspicion of driving under the influence, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

Esparza said the woman’s name was not immediately available.
