Bay Area clergy members were among dozens of protesters who marched through downtown San Francisco this morning in support of the “Occupy SF” movement.
More than 100 marchers left Justin Herman Plaza shortly after 10:30 a.m. and snaked through the city, making a number of stops, including at the JP Morgan Chase building on Mission Street, Wells Fargo headquarters on Montgomery Street and the Bank of America building on California Street.
“It’s important to stand on the side of people who don’t have much,” said the Rev. Jeremiah Kalendae, of First Unitarian Universalist Church in San Francisco.
“What I think is really amazing here is the diversity of all the clergy,” he said.
The marchers are repeating chants including “We are the 99 percent” and “We are too big to fail,” and are carrying a golden calf bearing the message “$$$ Worship.”
Occupy SF protesters have camped out in front of the Federal Reserve building and in Justin Herman Plaza in recent weeks. This morning, dozens of tents remained pitched in the plaza.
