sfpd_squad.jpgA woman was beaten and robbed in the lobby of a residential hotel in San Francisco’s Mission District early this morning, police said.

The robbery was reported at about 2:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Mission Street.

The 26-year-old victim walked into the lobby and as she passed a man, he punched her twice in the face, knocking her to the ground, according to police.

The suspect then kicked the woman twice, reached into her back pocket and grabbed her wallet, then ran away, police said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for her injuries, which were not life-threatening, according to police.

The suspect, described as in his early 20s, had not been found as of this morning. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
