sffd_officials.jpgInvestigators are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that killed a 59-year-old man at an apartment building in San Francisco’s Western Addition neighborhood late Saturday morning, a fire department captain said today.

The one-alarm blaze was reported at 11:52 a.m. Saturday at a three-story apartment building in the 1700 block of McAllister Street, near Broderick Street.

The victim, identified by the medical examiner’s office as Edward Chadwick, was pronounced dead at the scene, fire Capt. Tyrone Pruitt said.

No other injuries were reported, Pruitt said.

Although the cause of the fire remains under investigation, it does not appear to be suspicious, he said.

The blaze caused about $150,000 in structural damage, according to Pruitt. There was also minor damage to an adjacent building.
