sfpd_gunpoint.jpgA man was shot twice in the chest and stomach in San Francisco’s Excelsior District late Friday night but is expected to survive, police said.

The shooting was reported at 11:55 p.m. in the 4400 block of Mission Street.

The 23-year-old victim was approached by about six suspects who circled around him, according to police.

One stepped into the middle of the circle, pulled out a handgun and shot the victim. The man fell to the ground, where he was shot again, police said.

The suspects, all described as men in their 20s, fled and had not been found as of this morning.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his gunshot wounds, which are not life-threatening, police said.
