sffd_firefighters.jpgDozens of firefighters are working a fire burning at a two-story residence in San Francisco’s Lower Haight neighborhood.

The fire broke out at 428 Waller St. at about 6:30 p.m., a dispatcher said.

Megan Johnson, the owner of a pet store on the nearby corner of Fillmore and Waller streets, said that she could see at least eight fire department vehicles on the scene as well as several ambulances.

“There’s definitely smoke coming out of the roof,” she said. “I think that everybody is safe as far as that goes,” Johnson said.

One cat was also apparently taken to safety, she said.
