sfo_rain.jpgGoing somewhere? If you’re traveling out of SFO, prepare to wait. The Research and Innovative Technology Administration Bureau of Transportation Statistics recently released a report citing SFO as the worst in on-time service, with on-time arrivals at only 63% for March and on-time departures at 71%.

The issue, according to SFO spokesman Mike McCarron, is visibility.

“Normally, we can land 60 planes an hour on a clear day,” McCarron told KCBS. “But when we lose visibility, we can only land 30 planes.”

Although unsurprised by the figures, as March was a particularly wet month for the Bay Area, McCarron is hopeful and believes new technology is the answer to SFO’s tardiness.

If you’re still feeling impatient, however, Dallas-Fort Worth was ranked number on in on-time arrivals while Arlington, VA’s Ronald Reagan National Airport was number one in on-time departures. The only downside? Living in Texas or Virginia. Suddenly, running late doesn’t look so bad.
