Wind advisories are in effect for parts of the Bay Area today, a National Weather Service forecaster said.
An advisory is in effect for the North Bay, San Francisco and the Peninsula until about 2 p.m., forecaster Bob Benjamin said.
Monterey County will be under a wind advisory until about 8 p.m., Benjamin said.
The Bay Area is experiencing winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts of up to about 45 mph in some areas, Benjamin said.
In San Francisco, gusts as strong as 38 mph have been reported, he said.
Moderate to heavy showers have caused localized flooding on some Bay Area roadways, but the National Weather Service has not issued any flood advisories for the region, forecaster Jeff Kopps said.
Because of the chance of thunderstorms and more heavy rainfall later today, the National Weather Service is monitoring water levels and could issue an advisory later today, Kopps said.
“Thing are expected to calm down soon, but tonight is still expected to be rainy,” Kopps said.
