Authorities are continuing to search for an at-risk man who went missing on Thursday in San Francisco’s Outer Richmond neighborhood, a police spokesman said today.
Kenneth Chin, 73, who suffers from dementia, was last seen Thursday afternoon in the area of 35th Avenue and Balboa Street, police said.
Over the weekend, police inspectors reached out to businesses in the neighborhood to ask if employees had seen Chin, or if he may have appeared in any surveillance footage, police Sgt. Mike Andraychak said.
Since many of the homes in the neighborhood look the same, investigators also went door-to-door to see if he might have accidentally gone into the wrong house and gotten trapped somehow, Andraychak said.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is assisting in the investigation.
The agency has identified any buses that may have traveled through the area at the time of Chin’s disappearance and is “looking through as much video as they can to see if he was possibly on a bus,” Andraychak said.
However, no clues as to Chin’s whereabouts have been discovered, so police continue to ask for the public’s help in finding him, he said.
Chin is described as an Asian man who is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs about 170 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a long-sleeve blue denim shirt, blue jeans and black shoes fitted with Velcro, police said.
