rabbit.jpgCelebrate the year of the rabbit and help beautify SF with the Department of Public Works. Their Community Clean Team is kicking off the Lunar New Year with a volunteer-led day of service this Saturday (February 12) from 9am-noon.

The group will meet at the North Ping Yuen Housing Development on Pacific Ave. and Stockton St. Then they’ll work on a variety of projects, including gardening and landscaping, painting over graffiti, assisting in mural paintings and art installations, and picking up trash.

Mayor Ed Lee, Supervisor David Chiu and Supervisor Mark Farrell are slated to appear — no word on if they’ll be helping out with the dirty work. Also included in the event are family-friendly activities, performances by Chinese Lion Dancers and even fireworks. A free lunch, we’re told, will be provided.
