Officers responded to reports of a big-rig malfunctioning and spilling sand on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 at about 2:15 p.m. The spill happened on the Bay Bridge near the exit for Treasure Island, CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.

Sand spilled in a 10- to 50-foot line along the two far right lanes of the highway, Anderson said.

No injuries were reported, but crews need an estimated 30 minutes to clean the sand as of about 2:45 p.m., Anderson said.
