limbaugh.jpgState Assemblyman Paul Fong is the latest Bay Area elected official to call on conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh to apologize to the Chinese community for mocking Chinese President Hu Jintao’s speech earlier this week.

Fong, D-Cupertino, is demanding the apology two days after Limbaugh mimicked the Chinese president on his show Wednesday. State Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, also asked for an apology.

“To mock the Chinese language is to mock our culture and our race,” Fong said.

Limbaugh was describing a Fox News broadcast that had faulty translation of a speech Hu gave when for almost 20 seconds he spoke gibberish Chinese.

“Normally they translate every couple of words, but Hu Jintao was just going chin chong, chin chong cha…” Limbaugh said before continuing to mimic the language.

Fong called Limbaugh’s comments childish and ignorant.

He said he sent Limbaugh a letter asking for an apology and has asked the California Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus to send one as well.

“We need that apology,” he said. “That behavior breeds racism. We need to show the people that listen to him that it is inappropriate.”

Mr. Fong is riding the train to nowhere, this is an expression used when you “WEAR A CHIP” on your shoulder 24/7. the reading of ones notes/statements made by others is not disrespectful, rather it is the attempt to “share” information with others who may or may not share your views. Sam Kinison, Andy Kaufman, Robin Williams, Chris Farley, Rodney Dangerfield, and more… All noted stand up comics have made fun of people, situations, cultures, Chris Farley was doing his impression of a Chinese A.U.C.E buffet, when he said (in a Chinese tone) “You no eat here, you go away, you to fat”. where was the “UPROAR” from the Chinese people? there was none. I think the world has become so consumed with being “POLITTICALLY CORRECT”, that they forgot “humans err”. Mr. Limbaugh was reading a translation written down from a transcript of what was said by the translation during the visit. what is the next step? do we take the foreign books/literature out of the schools/library, because someone might read aloud and insult another culture or mispronounce words? Do we take foreign language classes out of the schools?, Lets stop the Pity Party, and get back to what is important; surviving the rat race of life.
