The TempestCentury 9
Julie Taymor directs another Shakespeare adaptation. You’re in for some fun.

Drunk + Alone – Roxie (Sunday afternoon)
I know every word from Home Alone – I don’t know, I just do. I quote the famous lines everyone remembers, I remember writing my name on my VHS tape I received one Christmas, and still – I can’t bring myself to take part in these shenanigans: Ice Cream + Beer + Home Alone. I see why one might, but still.

The TouristAll Over
Angelina Jolie sideglancing the whole way through and Johnny Depp with filled in cheeks. What a weird combination, right?

Point BreakCastro (Friday)
Talk about a weird combination – Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. And, if you think about it, it’s a pretty genius combination once you get past the Keanu jokes and the Reagan mask hokiness. It’s turkey in the sandwich of the Midnite for Maniacs triple feature of Just One of the Guys and crazy-ass Maniac.

The King SpeechEmbarcadero
Colin Firth with a spee—sppee—–spppppeeth impediment. (it’s a stretch)

Tiny FurnitureBridge
Shot with a handheld, an indie film about loser boyfriends, loser best friend, loser film degree, and a lost soul in life.

Legend of Pale MaleOpera Plaza
A found red-tailed hawk in Central Park, and a loving journey by one man, then by many to follow said hawk. The filmmaker will be there for some screenings on Friday and Saturday.

Machete – Red Vic
Robert Rodriguez’s homage to exploitation films. See Eve’s & Andrew’s review here. (I believe I speak for both Andrew and myself when I say that a late show at the Red Vic might be the most perfect way imaginable to see this film. Strongly endorse! — EB)
